Plans for 2020 Baseball and Softball

Good Morning Baseball and Softball Families,

I am sending you an update for the Mansfield-Ashford Little League (M-ALL) 2020 season. The Board has decided to wait until August 1, 2020 before starting any activities.

This has been a long thought out decision with the safety of the players and families first and foremost. It is also a result of decisions made by our neighboring leagues. Currently all of District 11 has suspended operations until August 1 (our closest regular opponents: Coventry, Willimantic, Columbia, Lebanon, SSFC, Colchester) and none of our nearby District 12 Leagues (Willington, Stafford and Hampton/Chaplin) are starting until August 1 with the only active leagues being Woodstock and Brooklyn. This decision has also been made with consideration of other youth programs in the area (WAM and Lacrosse).

M-ALL is working on an action plan that we will be releasing to families as soon as we have worked out some of the final details and tested our procedures as well as acquiring some of the necessary items needs for sanitizing and cleaning. Our plan has been given an initial thumbs up from the town and is based on the State's guidelines as well as instructions from Little League and the Town of Mansfield.

Now it's time for a little tough talk: please understand that these policies and procedures are for the health and safety of everyone. If you believe (when you receive the finalized list) that you are unable or unwilling to abide by them, please request a refund. You and your player will be asked to leave the park if unable/unwilling to comply. This can only work if everyone helps out.

With this decision and starting August 1, the season will be treated like extended Fall Ball. This also means that players will participate in the level they would be playing during the 2021 season. So the following would move up a level: league age 6 Tee Ball for 2020 will play Farm/Rookies, league age 8 Farm/Rookies for 2020 will play Minors, league age 10 Minors in 2020 will play Majors and league age 12 Majors in 2020 will play Juniors/Seniors. All other would remain in the same age level from 2020. If there is a question with which Fall Ball Level you will be in, please do not hesitate to ask.

So this means families will have three options:
1: If you plan to participate in this extended Fall Ball, you won't need to do anything. On July 15, 2020, we will transfer you to Fall Ball and you will carry a balance forward to the 2021 season. Fall Ball is $50 for all levels, except for Tee Ball which is $25.
2: If you do not want to play Fall Ball but still interested in participating in 2021, we can transfer you to the 2021 season. There may be an added cost for those player changing levels. That can be taken care of in the Spring. Please email me with your players' name at [email protected] to be moved to the 2021 season.  DEADLINE FOR THIS: July 15, 2020
3: You may request a full refund at this time by emailing: [email protected] with your players' name and address. Refunds will be processed within 30 days.  DEADLINE FOR THIS: July 15, 2020

We are hoping that the world will continue to become safer, that some of the restrictions in place will be relaxed and that we can resume playing and practicing as close to normal as soon as possible.
